Yesterday – For a Friend We Lost Today

An edit of the old Beatles song. RIP Tanner.

Yesterday,
Life was such an easy game to play,
Now you seem to be so far away,
Oh, I wish for yesterday.

Suddenly,
I’m no longer what I used to be,
I know I’ve lost a part of me,
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Then you
Had to go, oh I know, you couldn’t stay.
I guess,
HE called you home, but I long for yesterday.

Yesterday,
We laughed at all funny things you had to say,
And now I’ll never let them fade away,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Even though
Our tears flow, in our hearts, you’ll always stay.
One day
We’ll meet again, but till then, there’s yesterday.

Just today,
I called your name out, as I prayed,
Now you’re really not so far away,
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm.

The Beginning of Eleanor Rigby

Well, since I first heard the song ‘Eleanor Rigby’ I thought there should have

been more to the story.

How did she get to the point to where the actual song starts?

So I came up with my own beginning to it.

My part is written in bold, and after the dashes below is the original song.

Ah, look at all the lonely people

Ah, look at all the lonely people

Father McKenzie prays in the Church on a cold winter’s eve.

Feels like a dream.

Hears the wind blowing, then a knock and a cry at the door.

Who is it for?

All the lonely people.

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people.

Where do they all belong?

Father McKenzie picks up a child that someone has left by the door.

She cries no more.

Finds a only a letter, as he takes her in from cold winter air.

What name does it bear?

All the lonely people.

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people.

Where do they all belong?

Ah, look at all the lonely people

Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby grows up in the Church, every word of the sermons she hears.

Knows no fears.

Meets a young man, who says they will wed someday.

But he can not stay.

All the lonely people.

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people.

Where do they all belong?

Father McKenzie quietly working, when a knock comes again from the door.

News of the war.

Eleanor Rigby cries as he tells her of the news that had only just came.

Her love, no one could save.

All the lonely people.

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people.

Where do they all belong?

——————————————–

Ah, look at all the lonely people

Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been

Lives in a dream

Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door

Who is it for?

All the lonely people

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people

Where do they all belong?

Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear

No one comes near.

Look at him working, darning his socks in the night when there’s nobody there

What does he care?

All the lonely people

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people

Where do they all belong?

Ah, look at all the lonely people

Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name

Nobody came

Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave

No one was saved

All the lonely people

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people

Where do they all belong?
