I began keeping a photography journal two days ago, in bound book form.  In this journal, I will record my thoughts on what I am shooting, with what gear, where, who, settings, what I liked and didn’t like  and about the outcome of the finished shots.

I think this will be a great way for me to not only document what I do for future reference, if I shoot something similar later on; but it will also let me look back years from now and see what I have actually accomplished with my photography.

I have also decided that if I am photographing people, when possible, I will have them sign the book where I have made or will make the entry about that particular shoot.  A signature with the information and the photos, I feel, will make the work much more personal – leaving a lasting mark on not just the photos, but the people who I get to interact with when shooting.

Right now I am just getting into the “people” aspect of my photography, to this point most of the work has been scenic, wildlife and the like.

While at this time, my photography is more of a glorified hobby, I hope that I delve deeper into the art, it will be something that can eventually become my primary focus.
